Men’s Baseball
With 383 schools sponsoring varsity baseball nationwide, Division III is where competition, teamwork, and work ethic meet on the diamond.
Under veteran coach Mike Deegan, Denison University broke through last season, capturing its first national championship after a 51-3 season. The Big Red reached the D3 College World Series for the first time in 2025, then returned a year later and went 6-2 in the championship tournament, defeating Endicott in a 4-3, 10-inning winner-take-all finale.
The achievement reflects the range of paths to becoming a D3 contender. Wisconsin-Whitewater claimed its third national title in 2025, scoring a Division III World Series-record 74 runs across five games. Misericordia (2024) and Lynchburg (2023) also captured their first national championships. Different programs, different styles, same opportunity: every player can make an impact.
Excellence extends beyond the box score. In 2026, the D3 Academic All-America baseball teams featured 35 selections, with the 12-member first team posting a 3.77 average GPA. Bryan Olivet’s Bryan Carney was among them, earning first-team honors with a 3.87 GPA while leading all D3 pitchers with 122 strikeouts.
For those chasing the next level, D3 baseball can provide a pathway. Caleb Durbin, a 2022 graduate, earned Academic All-UAA honors while completing his economics degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He made his MLB debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025, finished third in National League Rookie of the Year voting before joining the Boston Red Sox in 2026.
Division III baseball fosters resilience, discipline, and a foundation for whatever comes next. You’re on deck.
